Book Overviews

Here is where you’ll find a more in depth look at my work. We’ll start with the blurb, which you could find on the back of the books, or in a whole host of other places. Afterwards, we’ll do a deeper dive into some of the characters, the setting, and other things to give a more in-depth look at each story.

As a warning, some of the things below could be considered minor spoilers so if you don’t desire that, I wouldn’t read past the blurb.

“We live in a dangerous place. People die all the time.”

Blurb:

In the quiet sub-arctic village of Felway, nestled in the heart of Fangnettle Fjord, a series of brutal murders are on the rise, and Councilman Rhengar Velden finds himself at the heart of the investigation. Time is of the essence as the light fades further with each passing day, and the possibility of the village’s demise before winter’s end becomes a very real threat.

Panic rises, and discontent threatens everything that keeps Felway safe as Rhengar begins to uncover Felway’s sinister past and a much more dangerous foe than he ever could have anticipated. As undead spirits, blood magic, and terror begin to close in on every side, Rhengar’s past returns to haunt him, and the very fragile power structures in place begin to crumble.

His failure means nothing less than the deaths of everyone he was sworn to protect.

The Overview:

Iron and Snow is my debut novel, set in the sub-arctic region of Fangnettle Fjord, in the far northern regions of the continent of Lantreth, in the world of Mir’talen. When one of the town guards is murdered, Councilman Rhengar Velden, a dwarf from the Orespire Mountains, begins to investigate, believing a new creature has set the village of Felway in its sights.

Rhengar suffers from a severe dissociative disorder which presents in one of two ways: Manifestations of a peaceful meadow, or tormenting visits from a conjuration of his dead brother, Hamirr. As the murders continue and Rhengar discovers that they are not simply the work of a wild creature, his condition, and the lives of everyone in Felway worsen.

Kimathi Abara, the villages barkeep and owner of the Iron Mantle Tavern, begins to plant seeds to take over Felway for himself, believing that he deserves the power, renown, and influence of the position. He believes Rhengar and the rest of Felway’s ruling council to be inept and ineffective, and seeks to bring the village under his sway.

As the story progresses, Rhengar is forced to confront his past and his guilt, lest he lose everything and everyone he cares for. His mind in turmoil, he uncovers Felway’s dark past, and sets a plan in motion to put a stop to the violence and death.
